Chest Pain


Chest pain is a sort of pain that a person feel anywhere along the front of the body between neck and upper abdomen. Chest pain has a number of causes and is normally considered as a medical emergency. Sometimes it may be even difficult for a doctor or other medical professional to tell what is reason of chest pain.



The causes of chest pain are categorized as cardiac and noncardiac causes. Any organ in your chest that includes heart, lungs, esophagus, muscles, ribs, tendons, or nerves can be a source of chest pain.

Cardiac causes covers up:-

Heart attack:- It occurs when blood flow to the arteries that supply the heart becomes blocked and can cause pressure, fullness or a crushing pain in your chest that lasts more than a few minutes.

Angina:- Chest pain can occur due to an imbalance between the oxygen demand of the heart and the amount of oxygen delivered via the blood. The reason is the deposition of fats in arteries that temporarily restrict the blood flow to your heart. This type of pain mostly goes away within minutes.

Pericarditis:- Chest pain can occur due to an inflammation of the sac that covers the heart. It causes a sort of piercing and centralized chest pain.

Noncardiac causes covers up:-

Heartburn:- Burning sensation in the esophagus, the tube that runs from your mouth to your stomach just beneath the breastbone caused by regurgitation of gastric acid can cause heartburn.

Panic attack:- It is a form of anxiety temporarily disabling, sense of extreme fear or psychological distress. Symptoms may include rapid heartbeat, rapid breathing, trembling, shortness of breath, sweating and sensations of choking.

Pleurisy:- A type pf chest pain from inflammation or irritation of the parietal pleura, the membrane that lines your chest cavity and covers your lungs.

Shingles:- This type of chest pain occurs due to an infection of nerves caused by the chickenpox virus.

Other factors that can cause chest pain include asthma, collapsed lung, injured ribs and muscle related chest pain can occur when you raise your arms or twist side to side.
