Hip Pain

Hip pain refers to a pain that occurs in or around the hip joint and is experienced by many people. Sometimes pain in hip may reflect a problem in your back. The hip consists of two main parts; one is a ball (femoral head) at the top of your thigh bone (femur) and second is a rounded socket (acetabulum) in your pelvis.

Common Causes of Hip Pain are:-

Arthritis: - This is one of the most common causes of hip pain. The two types of arthritis that results in hip pain are Osteoarthritis (OA) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA).

Fracture: - A fracture in the hip bone may result in hip pain. Less than 50% of people with a hip fracture return to their former level of activity and it is more common in elderly patients.

Tendonitis: - Inflammation of many tendons that are located around the hip also results in pain around the hip region.

Trochanteric bursitis: - The inflammation of the fluid-filled sac (bursa) that lies between a tendon and skin that sits on the outside of your hip joint may cause hip pain. It normally occurs due to overuse or repetitive actions around the joints of the body.

Avascular necrosis:- This type of hip joint pain occurs due to improper blood circulation.

Muscular Strain:- Strains of the muscles by quick twist around the hip can cause pain in hip.

Other factors like infection, low back pain may also cause hip pain.

Treatment:-

Treatment varies from problem to problem i.e. depends entirely on the cause of the problem. Some common treatment options include: by taking proper rest, by using ice and heat pads, by doing exercise that will stretch the muscles and tendons, by physical therapy, by hip joint fluid supplements will help to relieve hip pain.

As the age increase this problem become more common as bones become less dense. If you are not sure about the specific treatment recommendations for your condition, you should seek a doctor before beginning any treatment plan.
