Shoulder Pain


Shoulder pain is a type of pain that occurs in or around the shoulder joint. The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body and pain in the shoulder is a common condition that may results from diseases and conditions that involve the shoulder joint, bones, nerves.



The causes of shoulder problems are listed below:-

Tendinitis: - A common cause of shoulder pain is soreness of the tendon that is a cord attaches a muscle to a bone. It results from an inflammation in the common tendon of the rotator cuff. Excessive use of the shoulder that leads to inflammation and swelling of a bursa is known as bursitis can cause pain in shoulder. An aerobic exercise program will help improve the blood flow to the tendon or bursa.

Instability: - Movement of bones from their accurate position can also results in a shoulder pain.

Fracture: - Fractures of the shoulder bones can cause shoulder pain. It involves a partial or total crack through one of the three bones in the shoulder that includes the clavicle, the scapula, and the humerus.

Arthritis: - Shoulder pain can also result from arthritis. It is less common than knee and hip arthritis but may require a joint replacement surgery.

Frozen shoulder: - A frozen shoulder that occurs when you don't move your shoulder because of pain or injury. As a result the muscles inside the shoulders stiffen up and cause pain.

Rotator cuff tear:- The group of four tendons that are attached to the upper end of the arm bone is known as rotator cuff.
Cuff tear and wear can cause a problem in the rotator cuff. Depending upon its quality and quantity it is decided that whether tendon is reparable or not.

Treatment: -

The treatment of shoulder pain depends on the cause of the problem. Treatment generally entails altering activities, rest and physical therapy will improve your shoulder strength and flexibility. Ice packs and medication will also help to reduce inflammation and pain. Appropriate exercises will also help to stretch and strengthen your rotator cuff tendons and shoulder muscles.
